About the treatment

What is shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate healing in damaged soft tissue. It works by increasing blood flow to the treated area, breaking down calcifications, and triggering the body's own repair mechanisms in tissue that has become chronic and resistant to other treatments.

It is particularly effective for conditions that have not responded to conventional physiotherapy, massage or rest. Most patients see significant improvement within three to five sessions. Shockwave therapy is recommended by NICE for plantar fasciitis and is widely used in elite sport for tendinopathy management.

What to expect

Your practitioner
Shockwave therapy at The Green Parrot Clinic will be delivered by Abul Hussain, physiotherapist, who has extensive experience in musculoskeletal assessment and advanced soft tissue therapies. David, one of Abul's patients, described him as "the first person to make a real difference" after a long-standing issue others had struggled to resolve.
During your session
Sessions typically last 20 to 30 minutes. The treatment can produce a brief, intense sensation at the point of application, which most patients find entirely manageable. A course of three to five sessions is usually recommended for best results.
Is it right for me?
Shockwave therapy is not suitable for everyone. Abul will conduct a thorough assessment at your first appointment to confirm it is appropriate for your condition. Call us on 01760 724704 if you would like to discuss your situation before joining the waitlist.
